Short Biography

My main interests are in researching crime and place. I am currently working on research into Scotland's crime drop at a regional and neighbourhood level as part of the AQMeN Crime and Victimisation Strand. I am interested in how best to explore and visualise data at on high and low levels of crime at a local level across time and space using Exploratory Spatial Data Analysis (ESDA) techniques such as LISA (Local Indicators of Spatial Association) and Group Trajectory Analsyis - a type of latent class analysis. My PhD explored if there were distinct areas with high and low levels of vandalism across a 6 year period using these techniques. I also have an interest in Geographic Weighted Regression (GWR). I have knowledge of GeoDa, ArcGIS, Mplus, SPSS and Stata and am developing skills in R, I also use of Microsoft Excel and Access to manage datasets.
